In this first level the student wi l learn the fundamental tools for communicating in English, taking the learner from 0 to  a Basic Level of English. Whilst introducing the correct use of the indefinite article, subject pronouns and basic syntax including the verb "to be" and the alphabet, the block covers functions including: greetings and introductions, nationalities, through meaningful, contextual exercises. As we l as introducing the essential structures and vocabulary necessary to talk about the topic areas mentioned, the learner is encouraged to practice pronunciation from the very beginning. With the help of a native speaker, the vocabulary items and sentences modeled can be listened to and simulated.

Unit 1 – Greetings

Lesson 1: Greetings

Aims: To introduce and learn vocabulary and structures through interactive exercises such as word/sentence-picture association, listening comprehension with short dialogs, and student-led listening practice.

Vocabulary: Greetings.

Lesson 2: People

Aims: To introduce and practise grammar and useful phrases through interactive exercises.

Structures and functions: Subject pronouns · Affirmative of the verb To Be · The alphabet.

Vocabulary: Greetings.

Lesson 3: Introducing yourself

Aims: To consolidate what has been studied in previous lessons through listening comprehension, listening practice, and writing activities.

Activities: Listening, correct word filling, completing sentences, movie dubbing.

Lesson 4: Test exercises

Students find a variety of exercises carefully chosen to consolidate and evaluate the language skills acquired in this unit.

Unit 2 – How old are you?

Lesson 1: How old are you?

Aims: To introduce and recycle vocabulary and structures related to age and introductions.

Vocabulary: Numbers · Age · Introductions (This is…).

Lesson 2: How are the children?

Aims: To introduce and recycle structures and sentences.

Structures and functions: The verb To Be (affirmative, short form) · Talking about ages · Introductions (third person).

Vocabulary: Family and home · Numbers 0–10.

Lesson 3: Happy birthday!

Aims: To consolidate vocabulary and structures through interactive exercises.

Structures and functions: Adjectives · The verb To Be (affirmative, short form) · Talking about ages · Introductions (third person).

Vocabulary: Family and home · Numbers 0–20.

Lesson 4: Test exercises

Consolidation and evaluation of the language skills acquired in this unit.

Unit 3 – Meeting new people

Lesson 1: Meeting new people

Aims: To introduce and recycle vocabulary and structures related to countries, nationalities, and personal information.

Vocabulary: Countries and nationalities · Numbers 0–20 · Everyday expressions · Last names.

Lesson 2: Where I’m from

Aims: To practise grammar and useful phrases through interactive exercises.

Structures and functions: Adjectives · The verb To Be (affirmative, long and short forms) · Talking about ages, names, and jobs · Subject pronouns · But for comparisons · Determiners (a/an) · Expressing similarity (also/too).

Vocabulary: Numbers 0–20 · Greetings · Countries and nationalities.

Lesson 3: Pleased to meet you

Aims: To review and consolidate grammar, vocabulary, and structures.

Structures and functions: Adjectives · The verb To Be (affirmative, long and short forms) · Talking about ages, names, jobs · Subject pronouns · But for comparisons · Determiners (a/an) · Spelling last names · Expressing similarity (also/too).

Consolidation and evaluation of the language skills acquired in this unit.

Students practise vocabulary and expressions for everyday situations, consolidating skills through review activities.

Unit 7 – Duty-Free

Lesson 3: Nice to meet you (Dialogue)

Students listen to questions and record free answers for the teacher.

Lesson 4: Making new friends (Vocabulary practice)

Consolidation and evaluation of vocabulary and knowledge acquired.

Course review – Final test

In this last lesson of the course, the student will find a variety of exercises to consolidate and evaluate the knowledge acquired throughout the duration of the course.
