English Dexway Certificate - Level C1 - Course 2 provides students with the necessary tools to use all the grammatical structures of the English language and communicate with ease and fluency at a proficiency level. Students have no difficulties in producing and understanding any kind of spoken speech, whether live or broadcast, even when delivered at native speed. Students are able to produce and understand any kind of written language with accuracy. This course contains speaking and writing assignments.
Once the course has finished students can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts and recognise implicit meaning. They can also express ideas fluently and spontaneously without searching for expressions. They use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. They can produce clear, wellstructured, detailed texts on more complex subjects, showing controlled use of organisational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices.
Throughout the course students learn and revise different language functions such as: expressing real and unreal conditions, explaining processes, describing people and places, forming verbs and other words, reporting direct speech and thoughts, describing scenes and images and expressing position.
Vocabulary topics covered in this course include: good luck charms and superstitions, machines and machinery, homonyms, agriculture, mining and industry, personal appearance and location, diversity, sleep and dreams, advertising, social trends, the environment and natural disasters, diseases, vehicles and driving, tourism, parapsychology and horoscopes, urban places of interest, light and colour, artistic and photographic terms and onomatopoeia. Units include extended practice in the differences between British and American English and topics about English-speaking countries cultural facts.
Moreover, students finish the course equipped to comprehend business topics and produce both spoken and written texts related to these areas. They are able to deal with business situations as well as produce formal letters and to speak in public using English
Students practice all the language skills: writing, speaking, listening and reading through a series of interactive and contextualised exercises. They learn through tasks including real-life dialogues, word/sentence – picture association and video dubbing exercises.
