The course content remains functional and focused entirely on improving learner independence in al areas. In this course the learner is introduced to the contrasting uses of the tenses covered so far such as Present Continuous for future plans with Going to for intentions. As with the other levels on the course, there is frequent pronunciation practice and the learner has exposure to long and short sounds, correct regular past tense endings as wel as general vocabulary and sentence level practice. The use of a variety of exercises encompasses different learner styles as wel as guaranteeing thorough coverage of the topics covered. AI role-plays offer free practice with the topics covered  - giving learners the opportunity to participate in spontaneous speaking activities, replicating realistic exchanges.

Unit 1: 

First Day at Work

Aims: Introduce and recycle vocabulary and structures through interactive exercises: word/sentence-picture association, listening comprehension with short dialogues, and student-led vocabulary listening. Structures and functions include: introduction to telling the time, determiners (this, that, these, those), and days of the week.


Day and Time

Aims: Study and practice grammar with interactive exercises. Focus on:

  • Telling the time (0–12 and o'clock)
  • Determiners: this, that, these, those
  • "There is" / "There are"
  • Possessive adjectives: my, its, his, her, their
  • Possessive "'s"
  • Similarity: also, too
  • Vocabulary: work, days of the week, cinema, ordinal numbers (first, second...)

Exercises: matching, sentence completion, gap-filling.


When's the Film?

Aims: Consolidate and review vocabulary, grammar and structures. Exercises include: pronunciation, note-taking, gap-filling, dubbing, synonym recognition.

  • Possessive adjectives

Talking About Themselves

Aims: Introduce/recycle vocabulary and structures through association, listening comprehension and pronunciation. Focus on:

  • Prepositions of place and time (e.g. at home, at one o'clock)
  • Vocabulary: meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner), money

Aims: Practice present simple affirmative with daily activities and numbers 13–30. Includes pronunciation practice.


On Tuesdays

Aims: Review present simple, vocabulary for meals, money, numbers. Activities: listening, repeating, gap-filling, dubbing, synonym recognition.


Role-play: Giving Information – Talking about daily life, likes, and hobbies.

Test Exercises – Evaluation and consolidation.


Unit 3: 

An Appointment with the Mayor

Aims: Vocabulary and structure introduction via interactive exercises. Includes:

  • Frequency expressions: every, usually
  • Present simple affirmative
  • Prepositions of time: at, until, after
  • Daily activities
  • Irregular plurals: person/people

Day-to-Day of a Mayor

Aims: Grammar and useful phrases practice. Focus:

  • Frequency adverbs (every, usually, sometimes)
  • Articles: a, an, the, zero article
  • Let’s + infinitive
  • Fractions of time

Exercises: listen & repeat, sentence completion.


Tell Us About Your Day

Aims: Consolidate with exercises: listening/writing, arranging sentences, error correction, dubbing, synonyms. Grammar review as above.

Unit 4: 

A Table for Two, Please!

Aims: Introduce and recycle vocabulary and structures. Activities include association, listening comprehension, student-led listening.

Aims: Practice present simple (interrogative and negative). Activities: audio matching, gap-filling, sentence transformation.

  • Food & drinks vocabulary
  • Asking prices (How much?)

Do You Take Sugar?

Aims: Similar to above. Also includes:

  • Ordering food
  • Use of "a" and "some"

At the Restaurant

Aims: Review food and ordering language. Includes listening, gap-filling, dubbing, synonyms. Vocabulary: food, numbers 30–100, money.


Role-play: Eating Out – Ordering food and paying.

Work Duties

Aims: Review all course content through video and listening. Includes:

Helping at Home

Aims: Continue revision. Includes reading, pronunciation, listening. Review of:

  • Present simple (positive, negative, interrogative)
  • "There is / are"
  • "A" and "some"
  • Jobs, nationalities, time, numbers (0–100)

Home Sweet Home (Reading Comprehension)

Students read/listen to a text about types of UK houses. Answer 9 multiple-choice questions to develop skills: attention, memory, visualisation.


Role-play: Guess the Job – Practice with present simple questions and comprehension.

Test Exercises – Evaluation and consolidation.


Unit 6: 

Using Public Transport

Aims: Study vocabulary/expressions related to daily transport activities via real-life situations.


In a Taxi or on a Bus?

Vocabulary and expressions for navigating everyday travel.


Traffic Signs

Continue vocabulary and context-based expression practice.
