In the advanced section of the course the learner is provided with extensive practice in more complex areas of business English such as business trips, presentations, informal meetings and the cultural differences. The various lexical fields are presented through freer practice in simulations, telephone ca ls and general conversation; encouraging the student to draw from personal experience to give meaningful, contextual practice. More complex structures such as the second conditional, narrative tenses and future forms are used to carry out tasks such as giving presentations, dealing with import and export, working away and business entertaining. Throughout the course the emphasis is on learner independence through exposure to the correct usage of the target language with attention to practical situations and the use of idioms and phrasal verbs.

International business 

This lesson presents the essential vocabulary to talk about di ferent countries and currencies: Euro, Yen, Dolar, Yuan, Australian  dolar. 

Learners wi l listen to examples of asking for and saying prices: How much is…?, Numbers 1-50

 There is also an introduction to airport vocabulary such as: check-in, entrance, gate, café, toilet, information desk. 

A business lunch 

This lesson looks at how ordering food in a restaurant and making conversation during a business lunch. 

The learner wi l hear examples of talking about likes and dislikes and asking about preferences as wel as talking about hobbies and free time activities. 

Business trip 

Extended speaking practice through role-plays about di ferent travel situations: reserving tickets with a travel agent, checking in at the airport and arriving at a hotel. The learner wi l hear lots of examples of the target language in a conversation between a teacher and student.

 How was the trip? 

This lesson shows ways of talking about travel experiences using the past simple. 

The learn wi l hear examples of a student responding to questions about a trip. 

Revision of common adjectives inclueds: good/bad, old/new, fast/slow. 

An informal meeting 

This lesson focuses on ways of expressing agreement and disagreement in an informal situation with expression such as: so do I, me too, I can’t agree to that, I’m sorry but… 

The learner wi l see more ways to express quantity with: either/neither, a lot of, enough, too many. 

There is also a conversation between a student and teacher with examples of the language covered. 

Working away 

This lesson present ways of talking about and comparing working styles in two di ferent places and also ways to contrast habitual and temporary activities. Learners wi l see read and email and complete the reply using present simple and present continuous. 

Crossing cultures 

This lesson gives practise with the typical modal verbs to give advice or make suggestions: should/shouldn’t must/mustn’t. 

The learner wi l also listen to a conversation where a teacher and student are talking about cultural di ferences and customs. 

Lost 

This lesson includes extended speaking practice in giving directions around a town or city. 

The learner wi l also see the common language for public and private transport: trafic lights, roundabout, underground, map, Sat Nav/GPS , bus, tram. 

The P.A.'s day off 

This lesson takes a look at the topic of organising a business trip and making corrections to travel arrangements. 

A recorded interaction between a teacher and student show a series of role-plays to a travel agent, hotel and restaurant to make arrangements for an extended business trip. 

Import and export - A company and its service 

In this lesson the student wi l hear and folow a request for services provided by an import and export company. 

In addition the student wi l see how a complaint is dealt with as wel as practise and consolidate vocabulary related to the field of import and export. 

Just a pinch of salt 

This lesson shows ways of talking about food and describing typical dishes and ingredients as wel as ways to recommend food, explaining how something is prepared and how it is cooked.

The learner wi l revise adjectives describing taste: bland, spicy and social English.
