In this level, the student wi l learn the fundamental tools for communicating in English. Whilst introducing the Present Simple tense of the most common verbs, the correct use of the articles, determiners, frequency adverbs and basic syntax; the course covers functions including: jobs, eating out and te ling the time through meaningful, contextual exercises. By the end of the level, the learner wi l have encountered the necessary structures to communicate using present tenses on a limited level in situations of immediate relevance, wi l be able to communicate basic needs and desires as wel as make observations and appropriate responses to typical comments. As wel as introducing the essential structures and vocabulary necessary to talk about the topic areas mentioned, the learner is encouraged to practice pronunciation from the very beginning. AI role-plays offer free practice with the topics covered  - giving learners the opportunity to participate in spontaneous speaking activities, replicating realistic exchanges.

Unit 1: 

First Day at Work

Aims

  • Introduce and recycle vocabulary and structures through interactive exercises: word/sentence-picture association, listening comprehension with short dialogues, student-led listening practice.

  • Focus on telling the time, determiners (this, that, these, those), and days of the week.

Lessons

  • Day and Time
    Grammar practice: telling the time (0-12, o'clock), determiners, "there is/are", possessive adjectives (my, its, his, her, their), possessive 's', expressing similarity ("also", "too").
    Vocabulary: work, days of the week, cinema, ordinal numbers (first, second, third...).
    Exercises: matching, sentence completion, gap-filling.

  • When's the Film?
    Vocabulary and grammar consolidation through pronunciation practice, listening, gap-filling, dubbing, synonyms recognition.
    Focus: telling the time, determiners, forms of "there is/are", possessives, ordinal numbers, days of the week, times of day.

  • Role-play: The Office
    Practice asking about locations of things and places at work.

  • Test Exercises
    Consolidation and evaluation of skills acquired in the unit.


Unit 2: 

Talking About Themselves

Aims

  • Introduce and recycle vocabulary and structures: word/sentence-picture association, listening comprehension, pronunciation practice.

  • Focus on prepositions of place/time (at home, at the beach, in a meeting, at one o’clock).

  • Vocabulary: money, meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner).

Lessons

    Practice present simple affirmative with common verbs about daily activities and numbers 13-30.
    Pronunciation practice with native speaker.

  • On Tuesdays
    Consolidate vocabulary, grammar and structures: present simple, meals, money, numbers 13-30.
    Exercises: listening and repeating, choosing correct options, gap-filling, dubbing, synonym recognition.

  • Role-play: Giving Information
    Practice talking about daily life, likes, hobbies.

  • Test Exercises
    Consolidation and evaluation.


Unit 3: 

An Appointment with the Mayor

Aims

  • Introduce vocabulary and structures: word/sentence-picture association, listening comprehension, student-led listening.

  • Introduction to frequency expressions ("every", "usually"), present simple affirmative, prepositions of time ("at", "until", "after"), irregular plurals ("person", "people").

Lessons

  • Day-to-day of a Mayor
    Practice frequency adverbs, present simple, prepositions of time, articles ("a", "an", "the", zero article), "let's + infinitive" for suggestions, irregular plurals, time fractions.
    Pronunciation and sentence completion exercises.

  • Tell Us About Your Day
    Consolidate vocabulary and grammar: listening, writing, sentence arrangement, choosing correct options, error correction, dubbing, synonyms.
    Practice frequency expressions, present simple, prepositions, articles, irregular plurals, time fractions.

    Practice present simple, daily routine, telling the time.

A Table for Two, Please!

Aims

    Vocabulary: food and drinks, asking about prices ("How much?"), negative/interrogative daily verbs.

    Practice ordering food, asking prices, present simple negative/interrogative, correct use of "a" and "some".

  • At the Restaurant
    Review grammar and vocabulary: pronunciation, gap-filling, dubbing, synonyms.
    Topics: ordering food, asking prices, present simple forms, food vocabulary, numbers (30-100), money.

  • Role-play: Eating Out
    Practice ordering food and paying.

  • Test Exercises


Unit 5: 

Work Duties

Aims

  • Review all contents of the block through videos, listening exercises, gap-filling, and option selection.

Lessons

    Review present simple daily verbs, routines, articles, possessives, adjectives, nationalities, jobs, telling time, days, numbers (0-100).

  • Home Sweet Home – Reading Comprehension
    Reading and listening about UK house types followed by 9 multiple-choice questions to develop active reading and cognitive skills.

  • Role-play: Guess the Job
    Practice present simple question formation and comprehension.

Using Public Transport
